What You Need to Know About Fillings

A filling is a fast and convenient method of repairing a tooth damaged by decay. To repair your sensitive teeth, we first start by removing the decayed material. We then clean the affected and fill the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.

Amalgam Fillings

We can create a strong and stable filling material called Amalgam (silver in color). To do this we mix silver, copper, tin and mercury. Due to the obvious color these fillings are usually for teeth in the back of the mouth. They are sturdy and highly resistant to wear and tear.

Porcelain Fillings

If a large amount of the structure of the tooth has been lost then we will use Porcelain which will strengthen a weakened tooth and look natural.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are natural looking and are made up of acrylic resin and finely ground, glass-like particles. They are durable, resistance to fractures and can withstand pressures caused from chewing.
